Welcome again to a blog discussion on some election essentials for born-again believers, those who identify as a Christian. Today we are going to discuss a few things to do when voting in an election.
Prayer & Policies
As children of God, prayer is our duty. Prayer is not an option but instead it is the life support of a spirit-filled child of God whose true home is heaven and not this temporary earth. Thus, when it comes to voting the first thing any child of God should do is pray and let God lead you. Why pray? Because Jesus said we should pray that God's will be done on earth. If America is on earth and you are on earth, and you believe that God has a will, and His will is perfect, then you have to pray His will in America. (Luke 11:2, 1 Timothy 2:3-4, Jeremiah 29:11).
What is God's will and how do I know it in an election?
God's will is revealed in His word (2 Timothy 3:16). Whenever you cast a vote for a candidate, you, by your vote are giving them your approval for them to implement what they believe. If their beliefs—which are highlighted by their policies—go against what God says in His word, then you are siding against God by voting for a candidate whose beliefs, evidenced by their policies, are against God. Make no mistake about it. To be against God, is to be for the devil. There is no middle ground when it comes to holiness and righteousness. (Matthew 12:30).
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. - Proverbs 14:34
Ask God and allow God to lead you in voting.
Examine the candidates and their policies in the light of scripture.
Vote for the policies that exalt righteousness.
