Love

Love is a strong and powerful word but often misused, abused, taken lightly, and disregarded. Really what is love? And what does it mean to be loved? what does it mean to love?

Today let’s talk about love! Not just any love but the God kind of love in a general point of view. You’ll see in the Gospel of John the Bible says, “For God so loved the world (people living in the world) that He gave His only begotten son.” In this verse alone, God demonstrated his love towards man, a kind a love with no restriction, no condition, or expectation. This love is called AGAPE, the highest form of love that man can experience only through Jesus Christ.

With that being said, how can we define love from a biblical standpoint? Well in the book of 1 Corinthians 13 from verse 4 to 7 it says, “Love is patient and kind, love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude, it does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance.

This kind of Love, well stated, by the Apostle Paul here, is what God wants us, you and I to express to others. Without judgment and conditions. It is a command from God. ‘love your neighbor as you love yourself. (Matthew 22:39). Love is spiritual and the things of the spirit cannot be explained by the natural.

To better understand the God kind of Love, take a look at Jesus’ journey as a man made of flesh and blood like you and I. How despised He was by the way he was treated and talked about yet He was able to see past the pain and betrayal, by offering himself as a living sacrifice so that we as people loved by God can be who we are today. What manner of Love is that? The God kind of love. Love is the key point on which our Christianity is built upon and the foundation of our relationship with Christ.

In the book of 1 John4 :6-10 the word of God declares “Anyone who does not love does not know God.” Everything God has ever done has been out of love for us.

May the Love of God be revealed to all of us.
